Have you ever prayed for revival, awakening, God’s work to happen in the community where you live? Your heart probably even aches for it. But does your heart ache for what Jesus’ heart ached for in the Garden the night before He died – for His followers to be one with the Father and thus be maturing in oneness as they love and serve the world together.

No more thinking and living like it’s “MY church.” No more thinking and living in silos around town with no regard for the interests of other local church expressions in the community. Jesus prayed for our UNITY that the world might believe in the One who was sent. Let’s live as answers to His prayer.

On Fridays, be looking for posts that encourage unity among followers of Jesus around the mission of cultivating the Gospel in the city where you live.

18 In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world. 19 I’m consecrating myself for their sakes So they’ll be truth-consecrated in their mission. 20 I’m praying not only for them But also for those who will believe in me Because of them and their witness about me. 21 The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind-Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So they might be one heart and mind with us. Then the world might believe that you, in fact, sent me. 22 The same glory you gave me, I gave them, So they’ll be as unified and together as we are – 23 I in them and you in me. Then they’ll be mature in this oneness, And give the godless world evidence That you’ve sent me and loved them In the same way you’ve loved me.
(John 17:18-23, the Message)
